The program is open to children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age, contingent upon an evaluation period to determine readiness by the Director/Teacher. The program begins daily at 8:30am and ends at 12:30pm, including a bag lunch from home. As in any cooperative preschool, parents are required to participate in the classroom (depending on the number of days your child/children attend) and help maintain the school by participating on a committee as well as yearly fundraising and/or community activities.

Building Blocks functions as a recreation program of Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department. Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation and a Board of Directors, consisting of Building Blocks parents, and the Teacher, establish the policies which govern the school’s operation.

This program is designed to incorporate opportunities for free choice time and guided activity times. During much of the day, each child will be free to choose from a variety of activities under the supervision, and with the assistance, of the teacher and parents. There is also a period of parent/teacher directed activity scheduled during the day when children work in small supervised groups.

Our goal is to provide the opportunity and materials for the children to learn and grow at their own pace. Acknowledging the fact that children are born curious and ready to learn, the program provides a place for them to practice social skills, to learn to express themselves effectively, and to be exposed to new experiences. The experiences at Building Blocks will enhance the children’s self-confidence, academic, and social skills, which are the foundation for success in the years ahead in school.

3 days at $210 per month
